Pregnancy at week 15, Now the fetus is the size of an apple. The baby is around the size of an apple or navel orange .they are around 4 inches(10.2 centimeters)long and weigh about 4.1 ounces(116 grams).
A major milestone of fetal development that takes place is bone ossification. This is when the baby’s skeleton uses calcium to develop from cartilage to bone. The muscles are strengthening, the joints are developed, and the baby is more responsive. Their movements are much more coordinated.
The neck muscles are getting stronger, and the head is not dropping forward anymore. They are moving a lot inside the uterus, even though these movements are usually only starting around 20 weeks.
The baby is now actively drawing in amniotic fluid through their nose, which gets into the upper respiratory tract to develop the lungs. The 15 weeks fetus is also practicing other reflexes, such as swallowing and sucking. By the end of the pregnancy, the baby swallows 16.9-33.8 ounces(0.5-1.0 liters)of amniotic fluid a day urinates the same amount. Right now, they are swallowing and urinating much less.
Now that the bay has developed kidneys, ureters(tubes from the kidney to the bladder), and the bladder, they are making the urine to add to the amniotic fluid. The bladder fills and contracts every 30 minutes, making about a teaspoon of urine each time.
The baby’s skin is very translucent and small blood vessels are forming under it. Their skin is becoming covered in very fine hair(lanugo) and vernix(waxy, cheesy substance)which protects the skin.
The ears have almost risen to the proper place. The fetus can hear your voice and may move its head in response.
