Pregnancy at week 20, Now the size of the baby is comparable to a grapefruit .they weigh about 11.7 ounces(332 grams). This week, they are about 6.5 inches(16.5 centimeters)long from head to bottom and about 9.9 inches (25 centimeters)from head to toe.
They will grow about 0.4 inches (1 centimeter)longer each week during this month. At this point, the baby, placenta, and amniotic fluid have expanded to a uterus to the level of the belly button.
If you haven’t been able to feel the baby’s movement before, this could change in pregnancy at week 20. The fetus has grown a lot, so their movement will become more obvious during this week. For now, they still have enough space to do summersaults inside the uterus.
The feeling of the baby moving can vary. At this stage, you might feel movements for a few days then nothing.
The baby’s senses and reflexes are developing quickly .they are breathing, sucking, and swallowing constantly now. Their limbs have grown longer. If they found their thumb they will start sucking it.
Their nervous system has developed enough that the fetus can become more responsive to the environment, reacting to sounds, and they are beginning to notice sounds that are more familiar. The baby is learning the sound of your voice.
As the baby’s brain matures, they will develop cycles of sleep and wake fullness that will become longer and longer as they get closer to delivery. Loud noises can wake them from sleep, but they do not seem to be too bothered by this.
Their skin was completely translucent up until a few weeks ago. Now, the different layers that make up human skin are continuing to form. That means that the baby’s skin will become more pigmented and less translucent in the coming weeks.
